I chose to become a CamdenPLUS Resident because in order to effectively enact change in the school environment, an educator must enhance the skills necessary to grow both their staff and students. This is not only true for all schools, but particularly more essential for the leadership in schools that serve in urban areas.

Prior to the Residency, I had the pleasure of serving as a music teacher in one of the most comprehensive music and arts programs in the Trenton School District. Under my guidance we secured the VH-1 Save the Music grant and I developed and implemented the first instrumental program at my school.  In addition to this responsibility, I have served in various educational capacities throughout my tenure in education including remediation teacher, instructional support, and substitute administrator.  Of these one of my most important accomplishments includes my work as a GED instructor to detained adults.  With innovative and tailored instruction to meet the varied academic and emotional needs of my adult learners, 85% of tested students achieved their GED.
